Luna Bar Women's Sprint Tri - Sunday, Aug 29, 2010

Lori Johnson completes the women's sprint tri in an overall time of 2:21.54. This consisted of a .5 mile swim, 16 mile ride and 3 mile run. Lori placed 149th out of 298 women. Way to go Lori! Click here for results. 

SF Tri at Alcatraz - Sunday, Aug 29, 2010

Asunta Pacheco-Kennedy completes a tough Tri! This Tri consisted of a 1.2 mile swim, 25 mile bike, and 7 mile rides (part of which is on the beach and the dreaded "sand ladder"). Asunta did fantastic, placing 12th with an overall time of 4:04.54 (swim 46:41; bike 1:54.53; run 1:19.57). This was her first time swimming from Alcatraz. Congrats to Asunta! Donner Lake "Hot August Chill" - Sunday, Aug 22, 2010

Yaron Palfy completed a 1-mile swim at altitude at the Donner Lake 2nd Annual "Hot August Chill". He was in the wetsuit category and completed the swim in 40:20.1. Nice going Yaron! He is now ready and eager to swim the 2-mile at Whiskeytown Lake in September 2010.  

Donner Lake - Saturday, Aug 7, 2010

Regina swam in beautiful (albeit cold) Donner Lake for their annual 2.7 mile swim. She completed the swim in 1:34.00. 

Santa Cruz - Sat & Sun July 31st and Aug 1st, 2010

Regina Rus returned to Santa Cruz for their annual 1-mile Rough Water swim and the 2-mile Cruz Cruise swim. She was 6th in the 45-49 age group in the 1-mile in a time of 27:29.05 and 4th in the 2-mile with a 1:09:32.95. Participants said the Cruz Cruise was definitely longer than the 2-miles course officials claimed.

La Jolla - Sunday, August 1, 2010

This time Sarah Koenig was our distance swimmer, competing in the 5-mile "Tour of Buoys" swim in La Jolla. Sarah took 2nd in the 40-44 age group with a 2:28.25 averaging 29.41 per mile. Catfish Crawl - Sunday, July 25, 2010

Sarah Koenig conquered another open water adventure, this one at the UVAS Reservoir near Morgan Hill. She competed in the 2-mile and then the 1-mile, doing 1 hour for the 2-mile and 30 minutes for the 1-mile. Results to be posted at:  http://www.usaproductions.org/resources/results

Donner Lake Triathlon - Sunday July 18, 2010

Nancy Raabe completes her first International Tri at Donner Lake. This event consists of a 1.5k swim (.9 miles), a 40k bike (24.8 miles) and a 10k run (6.5 miles). Congrats Nancy! Click here for full results. 

Bay Bridge Swim - Saturday, July 17, 2010

Regina competed in the Bay Bridge swim in a time of 53:30, taking 12th (out of 32 swimmers). Nice place, nice time! And consider that this was a boat start and Regina was last one off the boat. Looks like she did pretty darned well! Results at: http://www.dolphinclub.org/swimbaybridge.html

Santa Barbara Ocean Swim - July 11, 2010

Sarah Fergot completed the Santa Barbara 6-mile ocean open water swim in 2:32.09, ranking 4th among the women (9 competitors) and 26th overall (36 competitors). Water was *c*h*i*l*l*y but Sarah was tough and muscled her way through it. This was her longest swim to date. Congratulations Sarah!

SF Treasure Island Triathlon - July 10, 2010

Asunta Pacheco-Kennedy completed the Sprint Tri on Treasure Island, taking 7 minutes off her time from 2009! She placed 7th in her age group (45-49) with an overall time of 1:23.37. Click here for full results. 

Lake Sonoma - June 27, 2010

Sarah Fergot takes 3rd in her age group for the 2-mile OWS at Lake Sonoma. Her time was 60 minutes and the course was apparently 400-500 yards longer than 2-miles. And, she did this the day after running the Double Dipsea! Nice job Sarah.

Lake Berryessa - June 12, 2010

5 Pirates competed at the Lake Berryessa open water swim. The wind was up a bit so they had some choppy conditions, but all of them finished and did well!

Spring Chomp (Tomales Bay) - May 30, 2010

On May 30th, Regina Rus swam in Tomales Bay (O-M-G) in a 2+ mile loosely organized event titled "Spring Chomp". Uh yeah, sharks have a breeding ground in Tomales Bay, so the name sure fits. Thankfully she did not see sharks. But she did encounter jelly fish and lots of them. No stings though, thank goodness and she came through unscathed.

Yacht Harbor Race - April 25, 2010

Our fearless Regina Rus once again went out in the Bay to swim the Yacht Harbor Race. She finished 10th out of 55 swimmers!! Water was about 55 degrees and her time was 39:05 in this 1.5 mile race.

Catfish Crawl - April 25, 2010

Six Pirates traveled to Pleasanton to compete in the first sanctioned Pac Masters open water swim of the season at Shadow Cliffs Resort. Water temp was between 60-64 and all six of us did it without wetsuits! Yaron Palfy placed 4th in the 35-39 age group with a 44:00.10. Betty Rasmussen placed 4th with a 41:58.40 in the 55-59 division and it was her first ever open water experience. Jeanette Pilgaard also swam in her first open water event and took 1st in the 40-44 age group with a 39:59.20! Carolyn Blom was another 1st place winner in the 55-59 division with a 31:39.40. Cokie Lepinski took 2nd in the 50-54 age group with a 25:23.60. And Sarah Koenig was the diehard who did the 2-mile swim, taking 3rd in the 40-44 division in a 1:03.50. 

New Year's Day Alcatraz Swim - January 1, 2010

Regina Rus completed the South End Rowing Club's New Year's Day swim from Alcatraz. The water temp was 50 degrees and the current a bit tricky. Regina completed the swim in 50 minutes! Oh yeah, no wet suits allowed. Only the toughest endure that kind of water temperature. Wow!

Marin Triathlon - November 1, 2009

Asunta-Pacheco Kennedy and Jim Larson both participated in and completed the Marin Triathlon which consisted of a 1.5 mile swim, 40K bike ride, 10K run. Asunta did this on her birthday - what a great way to celebrate "aging up"!

St Croix Coral Reef Swim - October 18, 2009

Sarah Fergot gets the distance award on this swim, a 5-mile swim in St Croix. She placed 8th in women 19-39 with a time of 2:38.58. 

Dolphin Club’s Escape from Alcatraz - September 26, 2009

Regina Rus shows her strength at distance and perseverance in this event which consisted of a 1.5 mile swim from Alcatraz, 12 mile bike ride and 14 mile run of the Dipsea trail!

Whiskeytown Open Water Swims - September 13, 2009

Sarah Fergot traveled a bit to get to this swim at Whiskeytown Lake near Redding where they host a one-mile and two-mile swim with about a 30-minute break between the swims.

RCP Tiburon Mile - September 9, 2009

Jeff Fineman, Neil Kruezberger, and Asunta Pacheco-Kennedy were among  634 finishers who swam in this highly competitive 1-mile open water swim event that attracts elite swimmers from all over the world.

Lake Sonoma Open Water Swim - August 22, 2009

Three brave Pirate women took on the 1-mile open water swim at Lake Sonoma.

Santa Cruz Open Water Swims - August 1-2, 2009

Regina Rus swam in these two annual open water events in Santa Cruz. The 1-mile is the "Santa Cruz Roughwater" and the 2-mile is the "Cruz Cruise" event.
